Genaddi Design Group, Green Bay, WI - October 22, 2007

I took advantage of an opportunity that presented itself recently and visited Genaddi Design Group shop after a day at the track at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. The ride to Green Bay was relaxing, especially at the tail end of the Fall Foliage season. It was my first time in Wisconsin so I did a great deal of sightseeing before finding my way to the birthplace of the Ford GTX1 supercar just around the corner from Lambeau Field, the home of Green Bay Packers.

I was especially impressed with Genaddi after Mark Gerisch gave me a personal tour of the facility. Wow!

The coolest thing about Mark is the fact that he's a true automotive enthusiast. But he's not like me or you reading about cars on the Internet... he actually makes stuff happen, stuff that others wouldn't dare do.

As I was following Mark into the shop and gawkin at the different projects Genaddi has going on at the moment, he handed me a giant rear wheel from a Ford GTX1, with one hand! I didn't know whether to brace myself to lift something heavy or what... but amazingly the carbon fiber wheel was super light.

In another part of the shop Mark had two cars side by side sitting upside down with people working on the floor of each. The cars, one Mustang and a Corvette were getting a floor-strengthening treatment developed that is expected to provide 3-times the rigidity of the stock configuration. Talk about cool!

There were other things I saw that I shouldn't comment on as they are current prototypes in development. There were also other exotics being developed, like the Bentley Arnage station wagon, Rolls Royce Phantom four door convertible, or a real Rolls Royce Phantom stretch limousine, something I am very fond of myself being in the luxury ground transportation business.

Besides Mark, I also met Matt Stoffe the webmaster that is responsible for providing me with all the GTX1 before and after pix that you see posted on this registry.

I'd like to thank Mark and Matt for all their help, and I hope they get plenty of business to keep coming out with new products for the public. For the registry visitors, be sure to check out the pictures below of the cool stuff Genaddi comes out with.

Update: well, it appears Genaddi is experiencing financial difficulty and is no longer making GTX1's.

Ewing, Inc. and The GT Guy, suburban Detroit, MI - August 17, 2008

Woodward Dream Cruise in suburban Detroit, Michigan is legendary and this year I was able to experience it for myself. Although the cruise itself was quite boring after a while there were two visits that absolutely made my trip worthwhile.

First, I stopped by the shop of a Ford employee that was very closely involved with the development and production of the original Ford GT and ultimately designed the roadster version briefly produced by Genaddi Design called Ford GTX1. Kip Ewing was kind enough to give me a private tour of his new shop and some of the carbon fiber products he has been developing for the Ford GT, Ford GTX1 and other exotic vehicles.

I actually enjoyed this visit more than checking out the official SVT display along Mustang Alley, which I was very dissatisfied with because of the apparent rift between SVT and Shelby GT500... why? I have no idea, but the only thing Shelby about the GT500 is the name, the car is just another iteration of the SVT Cobra.

Second, I hit the road towards the airport and made one final stop before leaving Michigan. After taking a long gravel driveway to a big red barn I was quite amazed to see nearly half a dozen Ford GT's and Ford GTX1's getting some twin turbo treatment. As if it wasn't powerful enough from the factory more and more owners are shelling out some serious dough to go all out, and the twin turbo set up pretty much is the ultimate thing you could do to get upwards of 1000hp on your daily driven GT. I met briefly with Rich and was again given a private tour of the facility and some of the cars on site.

All I could say it was awesome!
